Though Dillon Danis has been a huge name in the BJJ community for some time, he’s recently gained a good deal of notoriety in the MMA world too. That notoriety can be attributed to the role he played in Conor McGregor’s preparation for UFC 202<\/a>, where the Irishman would look to avenge an early 2016 loss to Nate Diaz<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After McGregor’s score-settling UFC 202 win over Diaz, Danis found himself in Diaz’s crosshairs<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“That jiu jitsu coach that he got, I\u2019m going to get that Motherf**ker, man,” Diaz said at a UFC 202 post-fight\u00a0scrum. “He\u2019s on my hit list.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Given that Danis has never competed in mixed martial arts, it would have been understandable if he chose not to respond to Diaz’s callout. Instead, the BJJ whiz embraced the Stockton slugger’s challenge, saying he’d happily fight him under MMA rules<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“I don’t know what that means, I’m on his hit list,\u201d Danis told Ariel Helwani\u00a0on an August episode of The MMA Hour<\/a>. \u201cBut if he wants to do MMA, I’ll fight him in MMA if he wants. He can do a CM Punk with me and bring me into the UFC. He can be my first fight. I’ll fight him in a couple months, whatever he wants to do.”<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cAny kind of combat he wants to do, I’m ready to step in there with him. Whatever he wants, no problem. MMA? It doesn’t matter to me. I’ll fight him in MMA tomorrow.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Last Saturday, the Marcelo Garcia black belt\u00a0competed at the\u00a0the 2016 IBJJF No-Gi Pans, where he walked away with gold medals in the medium heavyweight and absolute divisions. In the wake of these massive successes, Danis doubled down on his earlier willingness to meet Diaz in the mixed martial arts arena, this time calling out the entire UFC roster.<\/p>\n
