Last night, former WWE star CM Punk finally made the jump to MMA<\/a>, taking on Mickey Gall on the main card of UFC 203. This jump did not go as the pro wrestler planned.<\/p>\n

Seconds into the fight, he was effortlessly taken down by his young foe. From there, he was absolutely mauled on the mat, absorbing a hellacious storm of ground-and-pound and fighting off a long chain of submission attempts before ultimately tapping out to a tight, rear-naked choke.<\/p>\n

Of course, that’s pretty much what everyone expected to happen<\/a>.\u00a0Though Punk’s cojones are commendable<\/a>, we knew from the get-go that he’d enter his bout with Gall with a sizeable skill deficit in every aspect of the game.<\/p>\n

In the hours after Punk’s failed MMA debut, MMAJunkie’s Chamatkar Sandhu spoke with UFC commentator Joe Rogan, who apparently expressed his long-standing lack of faith in the wrestler’s mixed martial arts aspirations.<\/p>\n
