Portuguese MMA fighter Joao Carvalho has reportedly passed away after being hospitalized immediately after a fight against Charlie Ward, a teammate of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. <\/p>\n

Carvalho and Ward fought at the TEF 1 event, which took place at the National Stadium in Dublin on Saturday night.<\/p>\n

\nA Nobrega Team vem desta forma confirmar o falecimento do seu atleta Joao Carvalho, que ocorreu ontem \u00e0 noite no Hospital Beaumont, em Dublin, pelas 21:35 horas. \u00c9 com grande consterna\u00e7\u00e3o e tristeza que escrevemos estas palavras, informando que o \u00f3bito do atleta Jo\u00e3o Carvalho aconteceu depois de 48 horas em estado cr\u00edtico.
\nDurante o evento TEF-MMA, que decorreu no s\u00e1bado, no National Boxing Stadium em Dublin, onde foram cumpridas todas as regras de seguran\u00e7a, e ap\u00f3s um combate onde a arbitragem seguiu todos os procedimentos corretos e habituais, o atleta Jo\u00e3o “Rafeiro” Carvalho sentiu-se mal, cerca de 20 minutos depois do final do combate.
\nAinda no local foi imediatamente assistido pela equipa m\u00e9dica presente, sendo depois transportado rapidamente para o Hospital Beaumont, onde foi submetido a uma interven\u00e7\u00e3o cir\u00fargica cerebral, ap\u00f3s a qual o atleta permaneceu em estado cr\u00edtico durante as 48 horas seguintes, acabando por falecer nesta segunda-feira as 21:35 horas.
\nApesar do permanente acompanhamento m\u00e9dico que teve por parte da organiza\u00e7\u00e3o do evento e do hospital irland\u00eas, a quem agradecemos todo o apoio prestado nestes momentos dif\u00edceis, e embora sejam conhecidos os riscos deste desporto, o falecimento de Jo\u00e3o Carvalho no meu ponto de vista profissional foi uma enorme infelicidade, que deixa profundamente tristes e consternados, tanto a sua fam\u00edlia, como toda a equipa N\u00f3brega Team, que sempre acompanharam o Jo\u00e3o Carvalho ao longo da sua carreira, em que ele se vinha destacando a n\u00edvel nacional e internacional.
