Has Conor McGregor<\/a> been getting a helping hand from the UFC?<\/p>\n

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar<\/a> says that is, in fact, the case. Edgar spoke with Elite Daily<\/a> on the UFC landscape surrounding him and his future.<\/p>\n

“I see it happening\u2026 As long as his fight [with Rafael dos Anjos] goes well. As long as he comes out of the fight uninjured, we\u2019ll be the headline fight at UFC 200. I believe I earned it, I got a good feeling I\u2019m gonna get it. But nothing solid to say that it\u2019s definitely gonna be me.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Reflecting on the matchup with McGregor and his power and accuracy, Edgar says that he will concentrate more on what he will do to win.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m not too worried about it. If I was to fight Conor, I wouldn\u2019t sit there worrying about getting hit. I\u2019m just gonna do what I do best.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Perhaps the most interesting thing that Edgar said in his interview was that McGregor has gotten special wrestling training on behalf of the UFC.<\/p>\n

“I\u2019m sure he\u2019s working on it. He better be. The UFC hired [Olympic gold medalist] Jordan Burroughs to be his wrestling coach. He knows that\u2019s his weakness. It\u2019s not something you learn overnight, especially wrestling. It\u2019s a feel-type of sport, takes time.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
