Velasquez was replaced by Stipe Miocic, however news broke shortly after that Werdum had withdrawn from the bout as well.<\/p>\n<p>There was a scramble for the UFC to find a replacement main event for the bout.  Many on Twitter began to call for former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones to step in and fight Miocic.<\/p>\n<p>Jones took to Twitter to reveal that <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mmanews\/jon-bones-jones-offering-his-services-for-ufc-196-on-one-condition\/\">he would fight Miocic<\/a>, but only if it was for the UFC heavyweight title.  The fight never materialized, and the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson was promoted to the <a href=\"http:\/\/staging.tcpcharms.com\/bjpenn\/mmanews\/ufc-196-picks-up-new-main-event-moved-to-fs1\/\">main event.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Stipe Miocic took to Twitter to reveal that he never turned down a fight with Jones.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" lang=\"en\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Oh and for the record I didn&#39;t turn down shit. I took a championship fight on 2 weeks notice and it got cancelled.
