The UFC middleweight title was on the line in the UFC 194 co-main event, as champion Chris Weidman (13-1 MMA) put his strap on the line against number one contender Luke Rockhold (15-2 MMA).<\/p>\n
Round one begins and Weidman and Rockhold exchange leg kicks. Weidman shoots in and takes Rockhold’s back. Still standing and Weidman is landing punches from the back position. Rockhold tries to shake Weidman and it pays off, as he gets back to his feet. Another takedown from Weidman lands and again he is able to take the back of Rockhold. Luke scrambles and gets back to his feet. Solid clinch work and elbows from Weidman. Rockhold drops down for a guillotine choke. It’s tight but Luke is only in half guard. Weidman hops in to side position but Rockhold maintains his chokehold. Suddenly Herb Dean comes in and stands them up. Totally bizarre decision by the referee. Rockhold scores a late takedown to end round one.<\/p>\n
Round two begins and Weidman gets clipped with a right hook form Rockhold. Hard kicks from Luke score to the body of Weidman. Another leg kick from Luke. Weidman returns fire but his kicks are\u00a0noticeably weaker than Rockhold’s. Punishing kicks from the former Strikeforce champ. Weidman moves forward and engages in the clinch. Rockhold shakes off the champ and they are back to trading punches. Big shot from Luke lands flush. Both men are throwing big punches now. One minute to go and Weidman looks frustrated. Another leg kick from Rockhold scores. Big body kick from Weidman hurts Rockhold and the horn sounds to end round 2.<\/p>\n
Round three starts and Weidman is pressing forward with punches and kicks. Big body kick from Rockhold lands to the ribs of the champ. Weidman shoots in and starts battling from the clinch. They separate and Weidman starts teeing off with kicks. Huge left hand followed by a takedown for Weidman. Rockhold gets back to his feet but appears tired. Good kick lands for Luke. Weidman returns fire with a kick of his own and another. Weidman is landing kicks at will. But Rockhold is able to dive in for a takedown. Rockhold takes the back of Weidman and then moves to full mount. Big shots from the top by Rockhold. Brutal elbows and Weidman is pouring blood. Huge shots but Herb Dean doesn’t stop the massacre and the horn sounds to end round three.<\/p>\n
Round four starts and Rockhold is putting it on Weidman.\u00a0The champ is seriously busted up. A takedown lands for Rockhold and he begins landing some ground and pound from top position. Hard shots from the former Strikeforce title holder.\u00a0This is it. It’s all over!<\/p>\n
