There have only been two men to accomplish the feat thus far. UFC Hall of Fame<\/a> legends Randy Couture and BJ Penn<\/a> are the only fighters to win a championship belt in two different weight classes in the UFC. Conor McGregor is claiming to join the legends within his next two fights.<\/p>\n

MMA Junkie<\/a> transcribed McGregor’s talk with the media ahead of UFC 194<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cI will KO Jose Aldo and I will face the winner of the lightweight belt, which takes place a week after and I will fight for that,\u201d McGregor told MMAjunkie during a media luncheon. \u201cWithin the next two fights I will be a two-weight world champion.<\/p>\n

\u201cFeatherweight\u2019s popping because I\u2019m in here popping. If I go up to 155, guess what? All of a sudden 155 is popping. I might bless them with some big numbers as well in the future.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

To make the claim even more bold, “The Notorious”\u00a0told the media that he plans to hold both the featherweight title and lightweight title at the same time, which would make him the only UFC fighter in history to hold different weight class titles simultaneously.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I would like that lightweight belt; after this fight I will sit and watch the title fight and I will make my plan for that next,\u201d McGregor said. \u201cI would like to go for that title next. I would like to go this fight, lightweight fight and then decide what contenders are there in the lightweight division and featherweight division and then make the decision.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It might sound crazy, but McGregor held both the featherweight and lightweight titles in the Cage Warriors organization before vacating the titles to join the UFC.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel it\u2019s almost set in stone. KO Jose and then KO whoever holds that lightweight belt. Within the next two fights I will be a two-weight world champion once again, but this time in the UFC.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
