When PRIDE legend Fedor Emelianenko announced his return to mixed martial arts earlier this year, fans and fighters alike were hopeful he would be making his way to the UFC. Talks about where he was going to sign and which weight class he would be fighting in remained quiet until “Bellator: DYNAMITE” fight week.<\/p>\n

Had Emelianenko signed a deal with UFC, there was a real possibility he would be fighting with the best the light heavyweight division had to offer. Had that been the case, UFC veteran Don Frye believes that he would have no issues eventually capturing gold in the UFC.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s, the light heavyweight division is the weakest it\u2019s ever been,” Frye told Submission Radio<\/a>. “It\u2019s always been a weak division in the UFC, the light heavyweight division, and its weakest now than it\u2019s ever been.” <\/p>\n

Frye went on to analyze the current state of the heavyweight division as well, which he wasn’t too impressed with. “And the heavyweight division only has one man, that\u2019s Werdum. And everybody else is 17 stories below the man. So yeah, he could have walked in and had his choice at the championship belt in two weight classes.”<\/p>\n
