Jon Jones was originally slated to fight at UFC 187, however legal troubles forced him out of the fight and ultimately cost him his position as champion.<\/p>\n<p>Jones was stripped of his gold and Cormier won it in the main-event last night.<\/p>\n<p>When asked if he felt like if he was the real champion during the post fight press conference, Cormier pointed to his belt and asked, &#8220;You see what&#8217;s sitting right there? That&#8217;s a gold belt. That thing&#8217;s reserved for the UFC champion. I didn&#8217;t disqualify myself from competition. Jon did.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cormier quickly gave Jones respect where it was due, but he was concentrated on celebrating his victory Saturday night. &#8220;Jon&#8217;s the number one pound-for-pound fighter in the world. We all know that. But, he disqualified himself from this competition right now. So I am the champion.
