According to the online schedule<\/a> for next weekend’s UFC Fan Expo in Las Vegas, former UFC welterweight champion, Pat Miletich (29-7-2 MMA, 8-2 UFC), will be the next man\u00a0to join the hallowed halls of the UFC Hall of Fame.<\/p>\n

“The Croatian Sensation’s”\u00a0UFC Hall of Fame induction is slated for next Sunday, July 6, at 2:30 p.m. ET on the UFC Fan Expo’s\u00a0main stage.<\/p>\n

Miletich made his octagon\u00a0debut in 1998\u00a0at\u00a0UFC 16, where he won the promotions\u00a0welterweight tournament, this by defeating Townsend Saunders and Chris Brennan in the same night.<\/p>\n

At UFC 17.5 (also known as \u201cUFC Brazil: Ultimate Brazil\u201d), Miletich\u00a0earned a split-decision victory over\u00a0Mikey Burnett to become the UFC\u2019s first-ever 170-pound champion. At that time, the title was known as the ‘lightweight championship,’ but it was later renamed the ‘welterweight title.’<\/p>\n

Miletich\u00a0went on to defend the title four times\u00a0in the following years,\u00a0scoring\u00a0victories over Jorge Patino, Andre Pederneiras, John Alessio and Kenichi Yamamoto.<\/p>\n

Miletich would eventually lose\u00a0the title\u00a0in 2001, when he was submitted by Carlos Newton at UFC 31 in New Jersey.<\/p>\n

Pat would compete under the UFC banner for a final time in March of 2002, but was defeated by Matt Lindland in his final bout with the promotion.<\/p>\n

Following the loss, Miletich would turn his concentrations\u00a0to coaching\/training. His Iowa camp, Miletich Fighting Systems, would eventually produce a number of\u00a0MMA champions, including Matt Hughes, Robbie Lawler, Jens Pulver and\u00a0Tim Sylvia.<\/p>\n

Miletich\u00a0would\u00a0later serve as a coach\u00a0on the now-defunct International Fight League (IFL), a team-based MMA promotion that\u00a0debuted in 2006.<\/p>\n

That same year, after a four-year layoff from fighting,\u00a0Miletich would square off with\u00a0fellow MMA veteran Renzo Gracie,\u00a0where he ultimately\u00a0suffered a submission loss at the “IFL 9” event.<\/p>\n

Two years later, in his final pro fight at “IFL 11”,\u00a0Miletich would\u00a0knockout opponent Thomas Denny to put a stamp on his very impressive Mixed Martial Arts career.<\/p>\n

Fans can now hear\u00a0Pat on AXS TV Fights, where he calls\u00a0the action\u00a0alongside\u00a0Michael “The Voice” Schiavello.<\/p>\n
