As fans anxiously await the in-octagon debut of former Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard, he made an appearance on FUEL TV’s “UFC Tonight”. He talked about his recent UFC signing and briefly analyzed his highly anticipated bout with Brian Stann.
“It was a very long process but I’m here in the UFC now so that’s all that matters. I feel great, I’ve been waiting for this a very long time. I have a lot of experience, but I’m taking this very seriously, this fight, and a good performance from me is gonna make a statement. My gameplan is to win. I’m not gonna go out there and say I’m gonna stand-up only, I’m gonna go out there to win, no matter what it takes. If I have to grapple, I’ll grapple. If it has to go to the ground, we’ll go to the ground. At the end of the day, this is MMA.”
The last time Hector Lombard lost a mixed martial arts bout was in 2006 when PRIDE FC was still around. Throughout his current undefeated streak in 25 bouts, he captured and defended three different middleweight championships including the Bellator Middleweight Title. Right about the time fans were talking about wanting to see him in the UFC because there was little to no competition for him outside the Zuffa umbrella, rumors started that Lombard was in talks with the promotion. It was confirmed on April 24th that Hector Lombard was officially a contracted UFC fighter.
Hector Lombard will be looking to prove his worth when he fights Brian Stann at UFC on FOX 4 which takes place on August 4th in Los Angeles, California.
