UFC welterweight Jordan Mein (29-10 MMA) has decided to hang up his gloves and retire from the sport of mixed martial arts.

UFC officials announced the news on Wednesday night.

While only 25-years of age, Mein was a veteran in the sport of MMA, having 39 professional bouts to his credit.

“Young Gun” began his fighting career in June of 2006, where he suffered a submission loss to fellow Canadian welterweight standout Rory MacDonald at ‘Rumble In The Cage 17’.

Following a brief stint in Strikeforce, Mein would eventually join the UFC ranks in March of 2013 where he earned a first-round TKO victory over veteran Dan Miller at UFC 158 in Montreal.

Jordan would fight a total of five times under the UFC banner, finishing with a record of 3-2 inside the octagon.

Mein’s most recent effort came at January’s UFC 183 event in Las Vegas, where he battled former title challenger Thiago Alves. After dominating “Pitbull” for the better part of two rounds, Jordan got tagged with a solid body kick from Alves that eventually lead to a disappointing TKO loss.

As of this time, Mein could not be reached for comment on his retirement.
