Alistair Overeem performed to his maximum potential tonight and picked up his second knockout victory in the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
Reem kicked things off by shooting for a clinch and pressing Struve up against the fence. Struve was quick to separate and reset action in the middle of the octagon. Reem shot for another takedown and this time he was able to drag Struve to the ground. Even though Struve did a decent job at using his limbs to keep Reem far away from him while on his back, Reem was able to close the distance and blast him with shots to the head and body.
Reem was eventually forced to stand over Struve, working to get into position to stand over him and land big bombs. It took a while, but Reem cornered Struve and blasted him with a series of shots. Each shot landed cleaner and cleaner due to the fact that Struve was becoming less conscious with each punch that landed. Struve started taking too much punishment and Big John was eventually forced to step in and stop the action.
This was Alistair Overeem’s third UFC victory since debuting in 2011.
