The weigh-ins for the most highly anticipated fight of the year have been scheduled for July 6th at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The weigh-in will coincide with the UFC Fan Expo that will take place July 6-7 at the same venue.
In the main event for UFC 148, Anderson Silva will take on Chael Sonnen in the rematch to the middleweight title fight that took place at UFC 117 nearly two years ago. The weigh-in will likely be a show in itself as the outspoken Sonnen and current champ Silva have had a long brewing rivalry that has taken far too long to complete. July 7th, however, fans will get the rematch that they want.
Urijah Faber was supposed to challenge bantamweight champ, Dominick Cruz in another highly anticipated match-up. Unfortunately, Cruz was injured and eventually replaced by Renan Barao who will fight Faber for the interim bantamweight title. This fight was supposed to serve as a co-main event until Jose Aldo pulled out of his title fight at UFC 149. Aldo and Barao will now fight in Aldo’s place in the main event of UFC 149.
