Felice Herrig picked up yet another victory by way of armbar!
Ellis locked in a standing high-elbow guillotine in the opening seconds of the fight and it looked like Herrig was going to be forced to submit! Herrig showed great resilience, however, and explored her options on how to escape. Ellis realized she was not going to be able to make her pass out and broke the hold up. Herrig pressed forward and took Ellis down to the ground which led to an exciting series of reversals and submission attempts. The first round expired and if the fight would have gone to judges’ decision like the rest, it would have been scored a 10-10 round.
Herrig controlled the grappling contest in the second round and eventually transitioned to a position she could finish from. Herrig threatened an armbar and Ellis tried to escape by stacking her up. Herrig’s positioning and strategy was so good that she used her momentum to drag Ellis to the ground again, and Ellis was forced to submit.
