Yesterday we reported that XFC was targeting a matchup in Brazil between Chael Sonnen and Wanderlei Silva, and that Silva had already accepted the matchup (Read about that HERE).

The MMA world sat on the edge of it’s seat while we eagerly waited for ‘The American Gangster’ to answer Silva’s challenge, and we have an answer, unfortunately not the one many fans hoped for.

Sonnen spoke to MMAMania about Silva’s callout, declining the challenge, but offering to meet Silva on the mat at a future Metamoris event.

Sonnen explained that he wants to honor his suspension handed down by the NSAC earlier this year that suspended him for 2-years from MMA competition after failing two drug tests.
