A bantamweight bout featuring Sergio Pettis taking on Matt Hobar is the latest addition to December’s UFC 181 event in Las Vegas.
UFC officials announced the new bout following an initial report from The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Sergio Pettis (11-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) was most recently seen in action at June’s UFC Fight Night 42 event, where he scored a unanimous decision win over Yaotzin Meza. Prior to that, Pettis suffered the first loss of his career to Alex Caceres at the UFC on FOX 10 event in Chicago.
Meanwhile, Matt Hobar’s (9-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC) latest ocatagon appearance came at August’s UFC Fight Night 49 event in Tulsa, where he earned a unanimous decision win over Aaron Phillips. That got Hobar back in the win columnn, as he had previously suffered a TKO loss to Pedro Munhoz in his UFC debut.
With the addition of the Pettis vs. Hobar fight, UFC 181 will mark the first event to showcase both Pettis brothers, as UFC ligthweight champion Anthony Pettis is set to defend his belt against Gilbert Melendez in the evening’s co-main event.
UFC 181 takes place December 6 live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. The event is headlined by a welterweight title fight rematch featuring champion Johny Hendricks taking on #1 contender Robbie Lawler.
