Despite Cris Cyborg’s attempt to make 135 pounds to eventually fight UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey, which was brought to a halt when Cyborg tore a ligament in her ankle, Ronda Rousey took a verbal shot at Cris Cyborg.
Rousey spoke to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to discuss why she believes Cyborg should be charged with homicide for fighting women while on steroids.
“In my eyes, Bethe Correia is a real athlete and an honorable fighter, Cyborg is just a fraud and a cheat. If that fight (Cyborg) ever happens or not, if she ever has the courage to step up in front of me, I will be happy to give her the ass-whooping she deserved this whole time. But, honestly, I don’t even think she deserves that much. If it happens or not, whatever. I’ll do it, I’ll beat her and Ill prove it to everybody. That girl, in my eyes should be charged with attempted negligence homicide.
Coming into the cage on performance enhancing drugs is the equivalent of walking in with a weapon. It’s not about who hits a ball farther or anything like that, the only reason we’re allowed to do MMA is because we can now say that it is safe. But, if you keep putting PEDs in people, it is going to become less and less safe. And the day that somebody dies in that Octagon and the other person tests positive for steroids, you are going to have your first murder case involved in MMA. And that could destroy the sport forever. And one fucking headline, or whatever, that does extremely well, isn’t worth it. I’m happy to put her out of her misery and put her out of this sport so no one ever will have to ever deal with her again, because it’s something that needs to be done.
Do I think that having a big pay-per-view (PPV) card is worth risking that kind of fate or the sport that I’ve worked so hard to develop? No, I don’t think it’s worth it. But if you put her in front of me, I will put her out. But do I think she deserves to be there? No.”
