UFC commentator Joe Rogan and comedian Tony Hinchcliffe recently found themselves under fire for comments made about Invicta FC champion Cris Cyborg.
On a recent podcast Rogan and Hinchcliffe made jokes about Cyborg’s inability to make the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds. Rogan stated that the only way she’d make the weight would be to cut off her penis, an obviously harsh joke.
In an interview with BloodyElbow, Rogan apologized for the comments.
“I shouldn’t have said it, but it’s what you say if you’re hanging around with comedians, you know? It’s what we do. Plus, I had a couple of drinks. It was just a dumb thing to do, and I certainly didn’t mean it with any malice. I honestly didn’t.”
Rogan admitted that he felt bad for the comments:
“I shouldn’t have done it, I shouldn’t have said it. I do feel bad about it, because I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.”
Rogan finished by formally apologizing to Cyborg, hopefully squashing the beef.
“I didn’t mean to start any static with her or anything like that, so I hope she accepts my apology. It’s my fault and I take full responsibility.”
