At UFC 178 this past weekend, Conor McGregor cracked the top 5 rankings for the featherweight division according to the UFC’s official rankings.
Prior to his win over Poirier this past weekend McGregor was ranked 9th on the ladder, however with his win he replaced Poirier on the ladder in the #5 spot. McGregor is now 4-0 in the UFC, and is quickly climbing the ladder in the division, and becoming a superstar in the UFC.
Dominick Cruz also made a significant jump in the rankings, the former bantamweight champion returned to the cage this past Saturday on the prelims of UFC 178 and defeated Takeya Mizugaki in just 61 seconds. Cruz jumped from #10 on the UFC rankings to #2, behind Renan Barao and TJ Dillashaw.
Following his win over Mizugaki, UFC President Dana White stated that Cruz will face TJ Dillashaw next for the bantamweight championship.
