Yesterday we reported that Conor McGregor was willing to bet UFC president Dana White $3 million that he would knock Chad Mendes out in the second-round of their title fight at this Saturday’s UFC 189 event in Las Vegas.
McGregor actually doubled down on that idea during Wednesday’s open workouts, clarifying that the bet is actually for $3.5 million and that he hopes Mr. White accepts it.
When reporters asked Chad Mendes for his thoughts on McGregor’s proposed bet, “Money” gave the following response:
“I think that’s just another way for Conor to build this fight up,” Mendes said. “It is what it is.”
He continued:
“I know the guy loves money. I love money. Money is always on our minds. If that’s something he wants to focus on, let him focus on that while I’m beating a hole in his face.”
