At the post-fight press conference yesterday for UFC 178, Conor McGregor was asked what he thought about #1 contender Chad Mendes, to which ‘Notorious’ responded:
Chad is a 5-foot-6, overblown – he should be a 125er, but he’s gone past that limit now. Now he’s just a little small bodybuilder stuck in the 145-pound division, and he gets tired quick. He’s 5-foot-6 with a 65-inch reach. I have an eight-inch reach advantage on him. I tower over him. I would maul Chad.
Mendes responded to McGregor by texting Ariel Helwani:
“Conor can get on a plane to Brazil, go to his 3rd row seat, grab a bowl of lucky charms and witness excellence,”
When Ariel informed Conor of Mendes comments during the same media scrum, McGregor responded:
(laughs) He’s a little short…he’s a little short, it’s whatever, we’ll see how the fight goes, but I will be there. We will see what he says when we’re face to face, man to man. We wont be eye to eye though, maybe belly button…or something else (laughs)
