Lucas Martins is the latest name out of a handful of fighters who have been forced off the upcoming UFC 170 card due to an injury.
UFC officials announced Martins withdrawal on Tuesday evening.
Martins was initially scheduled to face Bryan Caraway at the February 22nd event in Las Vegas. However, Caraway was forced to pull out of the bout with an injury.
Caraway’s injury proved to be Aljamain Sterling’s (8-0 MMA) gain, as the UFC contacted Sterling to replace the injured Caraway and make his promotional debut against Martins.
The news of Martins injury once again forced UFC officials to work swiftly in order to find a replacement, this time for Sterling. Thankfully, their hard work paid off and the organization announced the signing of newcomer Cody Gibson (11-3 MMA.)
Gibson will be looking to extend his current win streak to seven when he takes on the undefeated Sterling at UFC 170.
UFC 170 airs on Pay-Per-View live from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is headlined by a women’s bantamweight title bout between champion Ronda Rousey and number 1 contender Sara McMann.
