Jon "Bones" Jones: 'I was one of the worst wrestlers in my freshman year' | BJPenn.com

Jon “Bones” Jones: ‘I was one of the worst wrestlers in my freshman year’

ufc light heavyweight

Jon “Bones” Jones has been on a path to redemption since his most recent run-in with the law back in April. After learning his actions would only earn him community service time and not jail-time, Jones was quick to take to social media to call out the champion and show the world that he is still in fight shape.

The UFC had no option but to suspend and strip him when he turned himself in for fleeing the scene of a three-car wreck that he allegedly caused. In the meantime, Daniel Cormier became the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion and has defeated Anthony Johnson and Alexander Gustafsson. While the light heavyweight division has been shaping up for a major 2016, Jones waits for Dana White’s phone call for a fight offer in between community service sessions.

Jones took to Instagram to share a story how he used to be one of the worst wrestlers in his high school wrestling team. In his freshman year, he was a measly 5-35. By the end of his senior year he was named champion…. He is trying his best to spread positive messages in his most recent community service appearances.

Freshman year I was one of the worst kids on my high school wrestling team (5-35), and by my senior year was named the New York State High School Wrestling Champion with a 39-0 record. At that point in my life it was my greatest achievement. I reminded these boys that if they believe in themselves and put in the work, there is nothing they can’t achieve. @izzystylewrestling @jacksonwink_mma

No wonder people have been saying he “dominated” community service recently. Who do you think “Bones” should step into the octagon with upon his return? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!
