Ronaldo Jacare Souza’s name was thrown into the mix for potential opponents to face the winner of the Weidman vs. Belfort bout, however UFC President Dana White said that Jacare was still one fight away from getting a title shot.
Former middleweight title challenger Lyoto Machida expressed his desire to fight Jacare recently, but with a bout against CB Dollaway officially announced, it is unlikely Jacare and Machida will fight.
Regardless, Jacare spoke to Globo to explain why he wants to fight Machida.
“I’m a employee of UFC and today I’m close to fight for the belt. This is undeniable. But I could scrunch Lyoto. It could happen, but I’m in the line for the title and this is my focus.”
