As Jose Aldo gears up to defend his title against Chad Mendes tomorrow night at UFC 179 in Brazil, another chapter in the feud between Team Alpha Male, and Nova Uniao was formed.
Urijah Faber’s Team Alpha Male (TAM) was win-less against Nova Uniao until May, when Dillashaw dethroned Renan Barao from Nova Uniao. After a joke from TAM was posted on Instagram showing Renan Barao signed up for a Duane Ludwig seminar, the feud grew.
Now with Chad Mendes set to rematch Jose Aldo for the featherweight championship tomorrow night, the potential for the feud to grow once again is increasing.
TJ Dillashaw spoke to MMAJunkie about Jose Aldo’s “safe” style of fighting.
“To tell you the truth, I think Aldo hasn’t been selling his fights with his performances. He’s been too happy to sit back and out-point guys and be safe.”
“That’s smart for your career, but for me, that’s not my fighting style,” Dillashaw said. “I’m too aggressive and I like to make it action-packed. The way I try to sell my fights is with my performances, making them better and better and knocking off good guys. I’ve got some tough guys in my weight class who I can prove a point with, and I think that’s the best way to sell a fight.”
