UFC lightweight, Diego Sanchez has made it official that his next fight will take place on August 31st, at UFC 164 at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin:
“I talked to Joe Silva yesterday, and he penciled me in for Aug. 31,”
No opponent has been signed to face Sanchez who is coming off of a split-decision win over Takanori Gomi at UFC on FUEL TV 8 back in March. With that win, and his past credentials at lightweight, it is likely that Sanchez will receive a top-10 opponent.
Sanchez did however reflect on the long known fact that the 155-pound division is a stacked one:
“There are so many good fights in that division that I couldn’t narrow it down to one,”
Sanchez will surely be looking for a statement win and the as the five-time ‘Fight of the Night’ winner seeks to once again climb the lightweight ladder as he once did, dropping a title fight to B.J. Penn at UFC 107, his last bout at lightweight before his return against Gomi.
