Jessica Aguilar, WSOF women’s strawweight champion, does feel like she missed out on her chance to make it into the UFC when they announced the addition of their women’s strawweight division earlier this year.
After announcing the addition of the new weight class, the UFC picked 12 of the toughest females on the planet, and put them on the 20th season of The Ultimate Fighter. The season dubbed ‘TUF 20: A Champion Will Be Crowned’ will crown the inaugural women’s strawweight champion.
Aguilar spoke to Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour to discuss why she feels like she missed out on the UFC.
“I did feel like I missed out,”
Aguilar quickly bounced back by saying:
“I’m still living my dream and I still have an opportunity here,”
“I had been with Bellator before. I was very, not as active as I wanted to be. They gave me a great opportunity, they called me and said what do you want and it just worked out. I take every opportunity the same, so it worked for me, it made sense for me, and I signed with them. So two weeks later the UFC announced it.”
In two fights however, Aguilar’s contract with WSOF is up, and she will have a big decision to make.
