DENIED! Judge Rules That Anti-trust Lawsuit Against The UFC Can Continue, Denies Motion To Dismiss

Frank Fertitta, Dana White, Lorenzo Fertitta

The class acton anti-trust lawsuit against UFC will move forward following a ruling from the judge on Friday.

A hearing was held and the judge denied a motion to to dismiss the case, set forth by Zuffa’s legal team. Zuffa’s legal team argued that the lawsuit did not show that the companies dealings showed any sign of anticompetitiveness.

So with the latest denied motion, the case will move forward. Several of the former UFC fighters who are a part of the lawsuit reacted on social media, with their feelings about Zuffa’s attempt of dismissal was denied.

The UFC has since released a statement on the ruling:

The United States District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada held a hearing on UFC’s motion to dismiss today. The Court correctly explained that on a motion to dismiss it must consider all the factual allegations in the complaint as true, and the complaint must be liberally construed in favor of the plaintiffs. Using that standard, the Court denied the motion to dismiss. As we have consistently stated, UFC competes in a lawful manner that benefits athletes around the world and has created a premier organization in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA). We look forward to proving that the allegations in the complaint are meritless.
