Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez is targeting a October return to the octagon.
According to a report on UFC Tonight, Velasquez came out of his UFC 188 title fight with Fabricio Werdum without any lingering injuries and would like to return to action at UFC 192 in Houston, Texas.
Sources close to Velasquez told MMAFighting’s Ariel Helwani that he wanted to compete on that particular card (UFC 192) because that’s the same one his training partner — and current light heavyweight champion — Daniel Cormier is hoping to fight on. The UFC 192 event will take place at the Toyota Center on October 3, 2015.
Although Velasquez has a date and venue in mind for his return, the report stated that he had not settled on a potential opponent.
