Stylistically, there aren’t too many crazier of a combination than these two featherweights. The Mexico native, Rodriguez is known for his varied and lethal spinning attacks as highlighted by his wins over Andre Fili and BJ Penn.
For Russia’s Magomedsharipov, he’s more of a controlled chaos or a Swiss army knife type of fighter. From what we’ve seen so far, it doesn’t look like there’s much that he can’t do.
Magomedsharipov has started off his UFC career with an impressive three-fight winning streak. Despite his flashy striking, Magomedsharipov showed his versatility to its fullest in his first two outings as he submitted both Sheymon Moraes and Mike Santiago. Then most recently, he went to war with a game Kyle Bochniak and although Bochniak presented a challenge for Magomedsharipov, he tactfully controlled the chaos on route to a unanimous decision victory.
The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America winner, Yair Rodriguez started off his UFC career equally as impressive with a five-fight winning streak before suffering his first defeat in the organization in his last fight which was with Frankie Edgar at UFC 211 in May of last year.
The rest of UFC 227 looks like this so far:
Bantamweight – 135lbs: (C)TJ Dillashaw vs. Cody Garbrandt
Middleweight – 185lbs: Derek Brunson vs. Antônio Carlos Júnior
Bantamweight: Ricardo Ramos vs. Kyung Ho Kang
Strawweight – 115lbs: Danielle Taylor vs. Weili Zhang
Strawweight: Polyana Viana vs.JJ Aldrich
