Former UFC fighter Jake Shields will return to MMA on January 17th at WSOF 17 under the WSOF banner to fight Brian Foster for the #1 contender spot to fight the winner of this Saturday’s Jon Fitch vs. Rousimar Palhares welterweight title fight.

Shields is coming off a win in his WSOF debut over Ryan Ford in October, the win put Shields back in the win column after being cut from the UFC following a decision loss to Hector Lombard.

Foster on the other hand will be making his WSOF debut at the event, a seasoned veteran with a 22-6 record in his professional career, Foster will be riding a four fight win streak into the bout.
