Volkan Oezdemir was the guy we all wondered why was ranked so high, until he showed us. He mowed through Ovince Saint Preux, Misha Cirkunov, and Jimi Manuwa to skyrocket to the second-ranked UFC light heavyweight in the world. Daniel Cormier made it clear that he’s the guy who gets the next shot at the title, a fight that would happen sometime in early 2018. Volkan Oezdemir recently took to Twitter to tease a his next fight announcement, could it be with the champ himself?

The timing is right, he’s 15-1 and only entered into the UFC just this year. If he gets beat by Daniel Cormier, like every fighter he’s ever faced besides Jon Jones, then he can have that hyped fight with Alexander Gustaffson to determine the King of Sweden. He could work himself back up in one or two fights to challenge Cormier again. However, we’re getting ahead of ourselves. You never what the UFC has up their sleeves, but a fight with Daniel Cormier for the title is the most logical choice. We know that Oezdemir wastes “No Time” so the announcement should be coming quick, maybe for one of the first four 2018 cards.
