Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey once again made history by gracing the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. It was a first for Sports Illustrated to issue three different covers for the new Swimsuit edition. The three covers include Rousey, Hailey Clausen, and Ashley Graham, who is the first plus-size model to grace the cover of the prestigious magazine, Which Williams lauds over.
Sports Illustrated said in their decision to choose Rousey as one of the cover models, “Ronda Rousey is a cultural phenomenon. She is the perfect combination of beauty, brains, brawn and humility. She possesses a spirit bigger than the space around her, and it is both infectious and inspiring. She’s a Phoenix, as fiery and beautiful as any mythical creature ever depicted.”
However, not everyone agrees. Check out talk show host Wendy Williams absolutely lay into Ronda Rousey and her looks on the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit cover.
Williams says with a disgruntled look, “Exactly! This is the girl you see swimming in your pool in Jersey.”
Williams acknowledges that Rousey is “hot,” but seemingly not good enough to grace the cover of the magazine.
“They say that this bathing suit is painted on. It’s not a real bathing suit, so they painted that on her. Still doesn’t add to it.
“The hair is wrong. The eyes are wrong. The nose is wrong. The mouth is wrong. The neck is wrong, everything is wrong, wrong, wrong.
“And, I’m not even counting the idea that she lost her last fight, because that is what a lot of people in my morning meeting were saying, and I was like, ‘win or lose it doesn’t really matter.’ It’s just that she looks very, she’s from like Queens or something, or Jersey, or Coney island.”
“This is SI, you all,” Williams says emphatically. “They step it up. That’s all.”
Wow. Think Ronda Rousey will be a guest on her show any time soon? Let’s hope not, for Wendy Williams’ sake.
