UFC 208 takes place this weekend as the UFC returns to New York at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Fighters from the UFC 208 main card took to the stage where they faced off against their competition for the media.
The co-main event of the night will feature a middleweight bout between former champion Anderson Silva as he looks to climb his way back to another fight with current champion Michael Bisping. Silva will have to get through the hard-hitting Derek Brunson first as the two knockout artists look to unleash another finish to add on to their highlight reels.
Silva and Brunson had a friendly face off on Wednesday as Brunson couldn’t help but to smile and laugh when “The Spider” got close and put his arm around Brunson’s shoulder to pose for the media. Both Brunson and Silva are coming off losses and aiming to establish their place in the middleweight division.
The main event of the evening features former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm who has the opportunity to be the first woman in the UFC to become a two-division UFC champion. Holm won the UFC women’s bantamweight title against Ronda Rousey at UFC 193 and will now face former kickboxing and Muay Thai world champion Germaine de Randamie in the inaugural UFC women’s featherweight title fight.
Holm and de Randamie had a few moments that were a bit awkward as both fighters showed a great amount of respect for one another. The two women in the competition gunning to become the first UFC women’s featherweight champion gave one another a hug before making their way off stage.
