Top ranked UFC lightweight Tony Ferguson is currently waiting on his next fight after his UFC 209 interim lightweight title fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov was scrapped after ‘The Eagle’ was forced out of the fight after being hospitalized.
With that being said, both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov have since agreed to a rematch, agreeing that they needed to meet in the Octagon to settle their longstanding feud, and determine the true lightweight #1 contender.
In the meantime, Ferguson is still in the gym training, and posted the above-video to his social media to show off his lethal elbows on the speed bag!
Ferguson has managed to keep his name in headlines however, recently attending the first stop of the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather press conference world tour, where he reportedly made eye contact with McGregor, but only for a brief moment.
He recounted the situation to MMAJunkie:
“He looks at me for a split-second, and I can tell that (expletive) saw the real ghost. He looked away so fast.”
“I’m a Mayweather fan, personally,” he said. “Hit and not get hit.”
“I love that, because he knows I’m there,” Ferguson said. “I could be a much worse heel if I really wanted to, but it’s not my style. I’m going to be me; I’m not going to be Conor.”
“You’re putting the lightweight division on stall,” Ferguson said. “Conor’s not defending the belt. He wants to go on to other ventures. That’s fine. Defend or vacate.”
McGregor of course, is reportedly planning to “turn right around” and defend his lightweight title after his fight with Mayweather according to UFC President Dana White.
