WMMA veteran Tara LaRosa’s “fight” (sparring match) with a Kris Zylinsky – an Internet troll who claimed any untrained, in-shape, athletic man could beat a professional female fighter – was originally to happen earlier this year, but was shut down by the local police and athletic commission. Luckily, the pair finally found a way to settle their gripes, and we have the video.
Watch it above.
Before this bizarre contest, Zylinsky clarified on his stance, reiterated that not just any man can defeat a female professional fighter, but any man with physical strength, some coordination, sharp reflexes, etc.
“I think the biggest misconception that came about this is that people were like oh, Kris said ‘all men can beat trained women.’ That’s not what I said at all. I said me because I am in good shape, I watch jiu jitsu, I have some knowledge. I’m not just a guy walking in out of the street. Everybody is saying oh Kris is saying ‘just some guy walking in off the street can beat up a professional female fighter.’ That’s not what I said. In order for a guy, in my opinion, to beat a professional female MMA fighter, they need to be in amazing shape, they need to have coordination, reflexes… you’ve got to be a warrior. You’ve got to be somebody that is very athletic. You’re not just going to get some computer programmer and put him in there and say ‘oh he’s a guy, he’s going to win.’ That’s not going to happen. Everyone is saying ‘oh Kris, you’re saying just cause you’re a guy you’re going to win.’ That’s not what I’m saying. I’m saying it’s because I’m a guy, because I’m in shape, because I’m fast, because I have some jiu jitsu knowledge. I never trained in classes, but I know what a kimura is, I know what a rear-naked choke is, I know what guard is. You can say these expressions to most people, and they’d be like ‘what’s guard?’ That’s the person that I’m talking about that would just lose to a girl.”
Needless to say, Kris Zylinsky was proven wrong by Tara LaRosa.
“I’m dead,” he said mid-way through the encounter. “I can’t do shit.”
