Rising UFC welterweight prospect Sage Northcutt has continued to impress fight fans in the Octagon. Upon entering the UFC at the end of 2015, Northcutt, who was discovered by UFC President Dana White on his ‘Lookin For A Fight’ series, picked up an impressive first round TKO win over Francisco Trevino. Just two months after his successful UFC debut, Northcutt once again returned to the Octagon as he defeated Cody Pfister in the second round of their ‘UFC Fight Night’ scrap. It wasn’t until January of 2016 that Northcutt suffered the first defeat of his career. After reportedly being severely ill with strep throat in the days leading up to the fight, Northcutt chose to step into the Octagon at welterweight to fight Bryan Barberena. Northcutt ultimately lost the bout in the second round via submission, marking the first loss of his professional career.
Northcutt however, was quick to bounce back and return to the win column in July at UFC 200 when he picked up a unanimous decision win over Enrique Marin to put his UFC record at 3-1, and his professional record at 8-1.
Now, Northcutt will face another rising prospect in MMA, Mickey Gall, who is also an alumni of UFC President Dana White’s ‘Lookin For A Fight’ series. Gall boasts just a 3-0 professional MMA record, with all three of his wins coming in the first round. In his last Octagon outing, Gall defeated former WWE champion CM Punk in his MMA debut in the very first round.
Following the fight, Gall called for a fight with Northcutt, which prompted UFC matchmakers to make the bout official for UFC on FOX 22 on December 17th in Sacramento California.
In the video above, you can see Northcutt not only showing off his impressive strength, but also starting a rather different internet challenge as he rips an apple in half with his bare hands.
