Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey is getting locked and loaded.
The former champ was seen at a gun store on Sunday in Las Vegas where she applied for a concealed carry permit, according to TMZ.
Witnesses at the store say that Rousey took a course that is required to obtain a concealed carry permit. Witnesses say that they saw Rousey take to the gun range firing off shots, which is another requirement to obtain the permit. Apparently, the UFC star was seen shooting a blue Glock 43 9mm pistol.
Ronda Rousey is coming off two consecutive losses in the UFC after racking up 12 professional mixed martial arts wins in a row.
In November 2015, Rousey lost for the first time in her professional MMA career against Holly Holm in their UFC 193 title fight. Rousey defended her UFC women’s bantamweight title six times before stepping into the octagon with “The Preacher’s Daughter.” Holm was able to shock the world when she knocked Rousey out in the second round of their title fight and sent Rousey on a layoff from fighting for over a year.
In December 2016, Rousey returned to the Octagon for a chance to get back the title against Amanda Nunes at UFC 207. Nunes’ striking proved to be too much for the former champ as she hurt Rousey early on in the competition and finished the fight by TKO at 48 seconds of the first round.
During her reign as the champion, Ronda Rousey had a dominant run in the women’s bantamweight division, stopping all of her opponents in the first round with the exception of Miesha Tate. In Rousey and Tate’s UFC 168 title fight, Tate made it to the third round where she was eventually submitted by Rousey’s perfected armbar technique.
Following the loss to Nunes at UFC 207, Rousey gave a statement to ESPN saying that she needed time to “reflect and think about the future.” No announcement has been made yet on if Rousey will continue fighting.
