For a moment in late 2017, it looked as though Darren Till and “Platinum” Mike Perry might become mortal enemies in the perilous UFC welterweight division. Since then, however, their rivalry has blossomed into a mutual respect that borders on a bromance.
Last week, the UFC hosted a massive press conference promoting the biggest fights currently pencilled onto its calendar. That included Till’s UFC 228 title fight with Tyron Woodley, and Perry’s upcoming battle with Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, which meant both men were in attendance.
While they were both in Los Angeles, Till and Perry got a bit of face time in. In fact, they did a little more than that, strapping on the gloves for a brief sparring session.
Initially, however, Till thought Perry had invited him to something much different.
In the video above, we can see the moment that Till realizes Perry had invited him to spar, not to go to the spa.
“You want to spar? Sparring?” Till says in the video, as Perry discusses sparring gloves. “Oh I thought you meant a spa, like a steam and that. Oh fucking hell mate, fucking hell [laughs].”
“I meant let’s go fight,” Perry corrected him.
“If you want yeah, we can have a little go,” Till agreed, evidently not too disappointed that he wouldn’t be getting a couple’s massage with his fellow welterweight.
You can’t make this stuff up.
Do you think we’ll ever see Darren Till and Mike Perry fight?
