This Saturday, the UFC will touch down in beautiful Brooklyn, New York with UFC 208. Though this is far from the most stacked pay-per-view the UFC has ever constructed, it is an undeniably historic one, as it will be headlined by the UFC’s first ever women’s featherweight title fight. This inaugural title fight will pit former women’s bantamweight queen Holly Holm against Dutch kickboxing veteran Germaine de Randamie.
That’s not all this exciting card offers, of course.
In the co-main event, we’ll see former middleweight champion and undeniable MMA legend Anderson Silva attempt to correct a recent slump against rising middleweight contender Derek Brunson. The main card will also feature a key middleweight scrap between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, who is arguably the top contender in the division, and Tim Boetsch, who will look to reestablish himself as an elite middleweight with an upset win.
In advance of this historic card, the UFC has released the latest episode of its popular Countdown series. This episode shines the spotlight on Holm and De Randamie as they gear up for their historic featherweight title fight, following them through their training and their personal lives. It also provides a window into the lives of Silva, Brunson, Boetsch and Jacare as they prepare for their crucial middleweight wars.
Holm will enter this UFC 208 featherweight title fight on a two-fight losing streak, having first surrendered the title to Miesha Tate, and more recently, given up a decision to top bantamweight contender Valentina Shevchenko. She owns an overall record of 10-2. De Randamie, meanwhile, will enter the fight on a two-fight streak, having recently stopped Larissa Pachecho and Anna Elmose with strikes. She’s now 6-3 overall.
