VIDEO | Gegard Mousasi Octagon interview

Gegard Mousasi

This afternoon, in the main event of ‘UFC Fight Night: Belfast’, top ranked UFC middleweight Gegard Mousasi stepped into the Octagon against Uriah Hall for a highly anticipated rematch of their 2015 scrap. In 2015, when the pair stepped into the Octagon, Hall delivered a spectacular TKO win as he landed a back kick on Mousasi that ultimately resulted in a TKO win.

Since then, Mousasi has been on a tear of the middleweight division, going on a 3-fight win streak this year that saw him pick up a unanimous decision win over Thales Leites in early 2016, before then picking up a 1st round KO win over Thiago Santos at UFC 200.

Mousasi Santos

In his next Octagon outing, Mousasi delivered a spectacular performance at UFC 204 in Manchester as he picked up a 2nd round TKO win over Vitor Belfort back in October to cement his place at #5 on the UFC’s official rankings.

Hall on the other hand went on a 2-fight skid following his win over Mousasi, dropping back to back losses to Robert Whittaker and Derek Brunson.

When the pair stepped into the Octagon this afternoon in Belfast, it was all Mousasi as he countered the striking of Hall, before then taking Hall down and securing a first round TKO win.

Gegard Mousasi WINS

Going into the fight, Mousasi was very open about the fact that it was a risky fight given that he was ranked much higher than Hall. Despite that, Mousasi was not only able to avenge the loss to Hall, but also build on his already impressive win streak.
