The ‘UFC Fight Night: Denver’ Donald Cerrone vs. Jorge Masvidal scrap is continuing to become more and more intense!
On Saturday night at ‘UFC Fight Night: Denver’, fight fans will tune in for a highly anticipated showdown in the co-main event as top ranked UFC welterweight Donald Cerrone will step into the Octagon against streaking welterweight contender Jorge Masivdal in a highly anticipated grudge-match. The fight is expected to result in one man advancing up the welterweight rankings and being thrown into the mix welterweight title contenders.
Cerrone will be riding a 4-fight win streak into the bout that saw him go undefeated over the course of 2016. After dropping a 1st round TKO to Rafael dos Anjos in a failed bid for the lightweight title to close out 2015, Cerrone made the move to welterweight in early 2016, where he picked up a 1st round submission win over Alex Oliveira. He then built momentum on the win as he picked up back to back TKO wins over Patrick Cote and Rick Story, before then picking up the biggest win of his welterweight run at UFC 206, where he TKOd Matt Brown. With his impressive streak, Cerrone landed at #5 on the UFC’s welterweight rankings.
Masivdal on the other hand will be riding a 2-fight win streak into the bout that saw him bounce back from a 2-fight skid. In the summer of 2016, Masivdal picked up a unanimous decision win over Ross Pearson before then picking up a controversial 1st round TKO win over Jake Ellenberger after Ellenberger got his foot caught in the cage.
In the video above you can see the two men coming face to face for the final time at the ‘UFC Fight Night: Denver’ ceremonial weigh-ins on Friday evening. When the two men came face to face, things got intense as they began to trade words, just days after Masivdal stated that the fight was a personal one during an appearance on UFC Tonight.
