Matt Riddle may not longer call the UFC home, but the former UFC welterweight still has plenty to say about the promotion’s president Dana White. Now a pro wrestling practitioner, Riddle vented his frustration with White in a recent interview with FloSlam.
In this interview, Riddle referenced the multiple instances in which he tested positive for marijuana metabolites throughout his UFC career. According to the former welterweight, these unfortunate hiccups should have prompted White to help him, not fire him.
“You know, I get this question a lot,” Riddle told FloSlam (transcription via BloodyElbow.com). “And sometimes I’m like ’Oh f*ck that dude Dana White.’ Because he is an a**hole. He was really cold-blooded towards me. And if you think about it, the situation I’m in – if you knew one of your employees had their third child and was still doing good work, but failed another drug test – maybe he needs help, right? Maybe you can go another route with this. But he went the route that he did, called me a loser and all that.”
“I’m not the biggest fan of Mr. White,” Riddle continued. “I don’t think he has good business ethics, I don’t think he does things properly, I don’t think he treats people properly. I think a lot of people would agree with me. I think that’s about it. I could sit here and bad-mouth him all day, but at the end of the day, I just don’t think he’s a good person.”
According to Riddle, however, it is White’s ruthlessness that makes him such a successful businessman.
“Does that mean he’s not going to be successful? Probably the opposite. He’ll probably be extremely successful for the rest of his life because he’s a mean person, and bad. But at the same time, I think that’s just kind of how the world works sometimes.”
