Last night, the UFC touched down in Austin, Texas with an exciting 12-fight card. In the main event of this card, ranked welterweight fighters Donald Cerrone and Yancy Medeiros collided in a fight many considered a frontrunner for Fight of the Night – even Fight of the Year – honors.
In the end, Cerrone and Medeiros’ scrap didn’t really last long enough to make it into the Fight of the Night discussion. That said, it was fun while it lasted, as the pair of fan favorites traded heavy leather until Cerrone landed a fight-ending blow with just two seconds left in the first round.
Relive Cerrone’s thrilling knockout win over Medeiros in the video at the top of this post.
With his win over Medeiros, Cerrone tied Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre for the most wins in UFC history, at 20. He also rebounded from a tough, three fight losing streak, that saw him knocked out by Jorge Masvidal, decisioned by Robbie Lawler, and knocked out once more by Darren Till.
Medeiros, meanwhile, returns to the loss column after three exciting wins: a second-round submission of Sean Spencer, a second-round TKO of Erick Silva, and a third-round TKO win over Alex Oliveira in a 2017 Fight of the Year contender.
