Tough Guy Tuesday: Wendel Clark

In today’s segment of “Tough Guy Tuesday” we feature former National Hockey League great Wendel Clark.

The product of Kelvington, Saskatchewan, Canada was selected first overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft.

Wendel Clark spent the majority of his 15-year NHL career with the aforementioned Toronto Maple Leafs.

Clark also had short stints with the Quebec Nordiques, New York Islanders, Tampa Bay Lightning, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks during his professional hockey league career.

The 5’11” forward played in 793 career NHL games, where he accumulated 330 goals and 234 assists to go along with his 1,690 penalty minutes.

Wendel made an immediate impact in his rookie season, refusing to back down from any of the league’s toughest enforcers, while sniping 34 goals and racking up 227 penalty minutes.

As solid as Clark was as a fighter, his scoring touch and offensive ability equally matched his on-ice toughness.

Wendel scored 46 goals in 64 games during the 1993-1994 campaign as captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Clark hit the 30+ goal-mark on four occasions and was selected to two all-star games during his NHL career.

Clark will go down as one of the most beloved players in Toronto Maple Leafs hockey history.
