A bantamweight bout between Urijah Faber (26-6 MMA, 2-2 UFC) and Vaughan Lee (12-8-1 MMA, 1-2 UFC) has been added to UFC 156 on Superbowl weekend.
Faber returns to the octagon for the first time since losing an interim UFC bantamweight championship match to Renan Barao at UFC 149 in July.
Prior to the fight against Barao, Faber had been set to face current bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz in a trilogy bout. However, that fight never came to fruition, as Cruz suffered a knee injury.
Meanwhile, Lee takes a giant step up in competition at UFC 156 when he meets the former WEC Featherweight Champion. The British fighter was last seen in the octagon at UFC on FUEL TV 4, where he suffered a submission loss to Team Alpha male product T.J. Dillashaw.
Prior to the Dillashaw loss, Lee had scored the biggest win of his career over “Kid” Yamamoto at UFC 144 in Japan.
UFC 156 is set for February 2nd from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar.
