Last weekend, in the co-main event of UFC 238, UFC flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko delivered one of the most brutal head kick knockouts in UFC history, decapitating challenger Jessica Eye in the second round. This thunderous knockout left the jaws of everyone watching on the floor — and that includes cage-side commentators Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier and Jon Anik.
In the latest episode of the UFC’s popular The Thrill and the Agony series, we get a head-on look at how Rogan, Cormier and Anik reacted to this vicious knockout from Shevchenko.
See it below:
“Valentina Shevchenko with a huge highlight tonight,” bellows Anik.
“Oh my God, Oh my God, oh my God… That’s terrible,” a visibly concerned Joe Rogan adds as Daniel Cormier leans on his shoulder in disbelief. “That is a terrible head kick.”
In the same video, we’re treated to a glimpse into Valentina Shevchenko’s corner at the moment of this knockout — including a reaction from her sister and fellow UFC fighter Antonina. Unsurprisingly, they were thrilled with their fighter’s incredible victory.
We also get to see how Eye’s corner reacted. Safe to say they were quite worried, much like Joe Rogan and his fellow commentators were. The good news is that, Jessica Eye regained consciousness without issue and seems to be in good spirits.
To my true supporters : thank you so much for all you do for me . I am ok and thank you for caring about me . I had a great camp and felt the best I have ever. I made some mistakes that cost me dearly. This fight game can be rough at times but it’s what I signed up for.

Elsewhere in this video, we’re treated to some intimate glimpses into the moments after the cage-side doctor rule Donald Cerrone out of his fight with Tony Ferguson, which Joe Rogan deemed “the right choice,” and lots more.
