A light heavyweight scrap between perennial division contenders Thiago Santos and Jan Blachowicz served as the headliner of today’s UFC Prague event.
Thiago Santos entered tonight’s main event on a three-fight winning streak, having won seven of his past eight overall.
In his most recent effort this past December at UFC 231, Santos defeated Jimi Manuwa via second-round knockout.
Meanwhile, Jan Blachowicz was most recently seen in action this past September in Russia, where he defeated Nikita Krylov via submission. That victory extended the 35-year-old’s win streak to four in a row, as he had previously defeated Jimi Manuwa, Jared Cannonier and Devin Clark.
Tonight’s UFC Prague main event went back and forth in the opening ten minutes. Santos utilized some strong low kicks, while Blachowicz was able to find a home for his jab on frequent occasion.
In round three the tide would turn in complete favor of Thiago Santos. The Brazilian caught Yan coming in with a big counter punch, which sent Blachowicz crashing to the canvas. From there, Thiago Santos would deliver some crushing hammer fists which forced the referee to step in and call the contest.
