UFC Nashville bonuses: Anthony Pettis rewarded for dazzling KO win

Stephen Thompson, Anthony Pettis

On Saturday night, the UFC returned to our screens with the 12-fight UFC Nashville card. Although the card produced a handful of forgettable contests, it also included some jaw-dropping finishes and back-and-forth scraps. The fighters behind those fights were well rewarded.

Former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis, who shocked onlookers by knocking out two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in the UFC Nashville main event, took home a $50,000 Performance of the Night bonus for his handiwork.

So too did Randa Markos, who executed a beautiful first-round armbar against Angela Hill on the UFC Nashville preliminary card. It was the Iraqi-Canadian’s first finish in the UFC.

The evening’s Fight of the Night honors, meanwhile, went to featherweight prospects Bryce Mitchell and Bobby Moffett, who engaged in a tooth-and-nail three-round scrap. Mitchell ultimately won the fight by unanimous decision, but both men took home $50,000 checks for their gutsy efforts.

The event drew 10,863 fans for a total live gate of $939,095.99.

Do you think the UFC got it right in terms of post-fight bonuses for UFC Nashville? Do you think any other fighters deserved bonuses for their work in the Octagon? Join the conversation in the comments section below.
